The children in classes 1 and 2 are continuing to enjoy outdoor learning. Our recent topic of ‘Traditional Tales’ has really inspired some of the children and has influenced their play. Outside they have been using a range of resources to build houses for the three little pigs. They have enjoyed acting out the story and taking turns to be the pig and the wolf.
Outdoor Play
The children in our Reception Classes have enjoyed accessing our outdoor provision where they have had the opportunity to play and explore using the large construction, sand, water and role play. It has been wonderful to see new friendships form and the children work collaboratively alongside one another in this area. Whilst playing the children develop a range of important social and emotional
skills as well as developing motor skills, problem solving skills and communication skills.
First Week in Reception
A wonderful start to the year for our Reception children! They are exploring their surrounding and developing new friendships.
Pirates
This half term pirates have taken over our classroom! The children have taken on roles as different pirates and designed their own ship ‘The Black Bloomer’. There have been lots of opportunities for developing language, speaking and listening. In the sand they have been digging for buried treasure and testing to find magnetic and not magnetic materials.
Outdoor Learning
Most of our children love to be learning outdoors and when given the option they often choose to go out. This gives them the opportunity to get messy with the wellies and waterproofs on and complete activities on a larger scale.
Autumn Term in EYFS
The children have been enjoying lots of Autumn and Halloween activities during the first term in Early Years. They have carved pumpkins and chopped vegetables to make pumpkin soup for our snack. Outside the children have been designing and making broomsticks linked to our story ‘Room on the Broom’.
Snack Shop
This week the children have been ‘paying’ for their fruit at our snack shop. They have been thinking of prices for each of the fruits and then counting out pennies to pay. We have seen some lovely mathematical language related to money and lots of working together.
We were in The Northern Echo
For those of you who were unable to get a copy of The Northern Echo yesterday, our school Early Years Reception Classes were on the front page of the First Class supplement. A fantastic photograph!
