Today Classes 1 and 2 visited the ‘Fifteas Vintage Tea Room’ as a link to our story of the week ‘The Tiger Who Came to Tea.’ We all had a wonderful time eating delicious cakes and drinking milk. The behaviour of all our children was fantastic! Well done Class 1 and 2.

The children in Early Years had the opportunity to visit the local library on Woodhouse Lane on World Book Day. They all had a fantastic time listening to stories and borrowing a book to read at school.

The children in Early Years have been making words from the alien pants. The children worked together to carefully sound out the words.

The children enjoyed going through the car wash. The group decided the cost of the car wash was 10p and they used 1p’s and 2p’s to pay. The recognised and carefully counted each coin to get the total amount.
Three Little Pigs – Playing Games
The children enjoyed playing ‘The Three Little Pigs’ game. They raced against each other to see who could build the house first.

The children have enjoyed the story of ‘The Three Little Pigs’. They made houses out of different materials and tested them to see if the wolf could blow them down.
Jack and the Beanstalk – Hunting for the Giant
The children enjoyed hunting for the Giant’s footprints outside. They used the footprints to measure different things around the yard. The children looked all over for him and listened carefully to see if they could hear him coming.
Maths – 2D Shapes
We have been learning the names of 2D shapes this week and describing their features. The children have enjoyed experimenting with shapes on the light table and designing pictures on the yard with the large shapes. Some children have been able to make 2D shapes with straws and lollypop sticks.
Malleable – Design a cake
In our malleable area the children have been designing their own detailed cakes with play dough and ribbons. We followed this interest and transformed this area into a baker’s shop. The children made currant buns and pastries from salt dough to buy and sell in the bakers’s shop. The following week we visited the ‘Crusty Loaf’ in Bishop Auckland to spend some of our snack money and buy a treat!
Outdoor Learning – Mud Kitchen
This week the children have enjoyed our new mud kitchen in the outdoor area. They have experimented with different sized containers and poured and mixed mud with different materials.
