Writing our letters to Santa has been a very enjoyable activity for our children. We worked together to write the letter and then learnt why is was important to use an envelope, write the address and why a letter needs a stamp. We walked to our local Post Office together to weigh the letter, pay for the stamp and post our letter. This inspired lots of children to write their own letters in our writing area.
Polar Express
To immerse our children in our story of the week ‘The Polar Express’ we held a wonderful themed day. The children couldn’t believe that the conductor had come all the way just to check their tickets! They enjoyed lots of yummy treats throughout the day and cosied up and watched the movie together. They have experimented with charcoal and drawn some very detailed pictures of the steam train. They have role played being the conductor and made and checked tickets before boarding their own special train. Before they went home the postman brought some letters from the North Pole!
Superheroes
Following the children’s interests, we have been doing lots of activities about Superheroes. They have read superhero books, made their own superheroes, played with superhero toys and made their own capes and masks.
Christmas Fair in EYFS
What a fun day Reception have had, hosting their own Christmas Fair. The children helped to set up all of the fair stalls and even made the snowman for one of our games. They have had so much fun getting Christmas tattoos, painting their nails, decorating biscuits and playing lots of fun games with their friends.

Maths – Scavenger Hunt
Today was such a bright and sunny autumn day that we decided to take our maths learning outside. We worked in small groups to solve addition and subtraction sums then used our answers to find a secret symbol code.
Bonfire Cakes
The children in Year 1 are so excited about Bonfire night! Today we designed and decorated our own bonfire cupcakes using red and orange icing sugar and chocolate sticks. The children then wrapped up warm and enjoyed their cupcakes around a fire in our wildlife area.
Autumn Fun
The children learnt all about Autumn in Nursery. They collected leaves and talked about their colours, shapes and sizes. They brought in finds from home and showed these to the class. They also created some fantastic Autumn artwork.
Fireworks
The children had a great time making Firework toast for snack this week. They used paintbrushes to make marks on the toast including lines, swirls and circles. They all enjoyed eating their tasty firework toast!
Winding Mechanisms
We have designed winding mechanisms then made them using card, string, skewers and tape. Our designs included a wishing well design and a castle with an opening door. The children loved seeing their finished models and they decorated their models to a high standard.
