Today the children have been learning about the brain. They now know that the brain is malleable and can change like a muscle. Through hard work and perseverance the brain can grow as new connections are made. We discussed how we can “exercise” our brain and why this is so important.
Following this, the children were given a group task. Each group was given an egg and told that they must make something to protect it. Once the creations were complete the eggs were dropped from a height. The task involved teamwork, communication, problem solving and perseverance.
The staff team are noticing significant improvements in the way children work during such tasks. We have noticed that they persevere for longer, communicate better with their peers and are employing economic strategies for problem solving.
