The children began by developing their characters and they thought of adjectives to describe them. They thought of a setting and then started their stories. Word mats were used so they had various sentence starters and help with tricky words. The children were given several sessions to develop their stories and build on previous knowledge so a quality piece of work could be achieved. The children were all engaged and they loved the A3 templates that were folded into small books. The children can’t wait to read their finished stories to the reception classes.
