The children have had a really interesting and enjoyable day with Bernard Young, a performance poet and Judith Forster from Durham County Council Road Safety Department. The children have been using their creative writing skills to produce poems which they then performed to the whole school in assembly. Elsie, our “lollipop lady” was thrilled that one was especially about her. Their creativity, imagination and confidence are wonderful!
How we wish that Elsie was here.
If you are going to McDonald’s for an extra treat.
Better take care when you cross Tindale Street.
It’s very very busy and it’s very very wide.
It’s not safe to cross when the cars fly by.
Stand on the path ’til the road is clear.
How we wish that Elsie was here.
She will step out first with her lollipop sign.
She’ll stop all the cars and we’ll be fine.
