The children investigated various materials and how they affected ice melting if they were used as insulation. The children investigated fabric, paper towels, plastic and one group had nothing to insulate their ice cubes. The ice took a long time to melt and they discovered that ice melts quicker when the temperature rises. Some of the children found the radiator was a good place to speed up the process. Others used the warmth from their hands.
