The children at Cockton Hill Infants’ School are learning about the rights of children all around the world and are enthusiastically letting everyone know about them. For example, Article 19 says that children should be safe from harm and Article 29 encourages them to care for their environment.
Following assemblies and discussions about traffic and other issues when coming to and from school, the Rights Respecting School Council made up of children from Reception, Year 1 and Year 2, had the idea of making signs to put up outside of the school. these are to remind everyone of children’s rights and how to become involved.
The children are very proud of their posters which include “Please drive slowly past our school”, “Thank you for not smoking near the school” and “Thank you for helping us to keep the school environment clean”.
Next week we are having our Clean for the Queen week when all members of the school community will be working together to tidy the school grounds.
